Voici notre carton d’invitation pour l’exposition “Confort précaire” qui ouvrira ses portes au public cet été à la Galerie Trinity – Salon A (Centre des arts Shenkman).
The jury accepted the 2 pieces I submitted for this great opportunity to show at the Canadian Museum of Nature. The event will be held from May 5-13, 2012. It is organized by the National Capital Network of Sculptors.

Géraldine Petit-Gras will take part of the Pottery Sale & juried Exhibition organized by the Ottawa Guild of Potters, April 12-15, along with 44 other artists. Her booth will be #45. It will be held at the Shenkman Art Centre which is located at 245 Centrum Boulevard in Ottawa’s east-end.

Géraldine Petit-Gras prendra part à la Vente de poterie et exposition organisée par la Guilde des potiers d’Ottawa, les 12-15 avril, ainsi que 44 autres artistes. Son stand portera le numéro 45. La vente aura lieu au Centre des arts Shenkman qui se trouve au 245, blvd Centrum dans l’Est d’Ottawa.

I had to start early on this project due to work being done in the summer at the studio. So here is the early stage of an installation piece with ceramic sculptures. I am working on bisque ware (first firing that hardens the clay). I usually clean up small bits of clay I don’t want to keep, then circle with a pencil small cracks and other marks I don’t want to see in the finished work (I will cover them with a special glaze that once fired will stay the same as it is applied). Then I put underglazes and finally I lay strands of glaze that remind me of the surface of corals and seashells.

J’ai dû commencer à travailler sur ce projet assez tôt en raison de travaux qui vont être effectués dans mon studio cet été. Voici le début d’une installation avec sculptures en céramique. Je travaille ici sur le biscuit (première cuisson qui sert à durcir l’argile). Je nettoie les petits morceaux que je ne veux pas voir vitrifier (après la 2è cuisson), puis j’encercle au crayon à papier les fissures et autres marques non désirées sur le produit fini (je les couvrirai plus tard avec une glaçure spéciale qui une fois cuite restera telle qu’appliquée). Ensuite, je mets des sous-glaçures et enfin je place un à un mes filaments de glaçure qui me rappellent la surface des coraux et coquillages.

Isobel Salole, Ginger McCoy and Colette Bourgeon held a pottery sale on 1,2 and 3 December at the Clayworks Gallery on Gladstone.
It was a great success with many visitors who enjoyed looking at these recent works, doing some Christmas shopping and enjoying the wine, punch and nibbles. Thank you to all who came out!

Hello,
My my first sale with the Guild has come to an end. I liked my display, although I still have much to learn from this experience and improve for the next one. Here are some photos of my booth. Thanks to all who came and brought back home a piece of me.
